Pork is the perfect protein for your dog. Our pet nutrition experts who have PhD's and other advanced degrees have created Farmhouse Blend, the perfect food for your dog.  Pork is wholesome, nutritious, great for the digestive system--and dogs love it. Our experts agree it's a good idea to switch your dog from lamb, beef, bison, or chicken to a different protein source to avoid allergies and food sensitivities. Reducing our use of lamb, bison, and beef is good for the environment because these "ruminant" animals are one of the biggest sources of greenhouse gases.

About our Wholesome Ingredients

Pork Meal:
The high quality pork meal used in Grandma Mae's Country Naturals Farmhouse Blend is the perfect protein for your dog. Pork is wholesome, nutritious, great for the digestive system–and dogs love it. Our experts agree it’s a good idea to switch your dog from lamb, beef, bison, or chicken to a different protein source to avoid allergies and food sensitivities.

Oats are an unsurpassed source of the complex carbohydrates that give animals energy.

Pearled Barley:
A highly-digestible, natural whole grain, barley is an excellent source of B vitamins and lysine, an essential amino acid many dogs lack. It also provides high-quality protein, carbohydrates, and dietary fiber. Although barley is used primarily for carbohydrates (and hence energy), it is also an important source of fat, essential fatty acids, and trace minerals.

Millet is rich in B vitamins, iron and potassium. Low in calories yet rich in proteins, millet is soothing and often recommended for dogs with colitis.

Brown Rice:
Brown rice contains a generous supply of B vitamins, calcium, phosphorus, and iron. As a source of complex carbohydrates, it provides quick energy and is protein-rich. Like all cereal grains, brown rice is an important source of fat, essential fatty acids and amino acids, dietary fiber, and trace minerals.

Canola Oil:
Canola Oil is an excellent source of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids and is low in fat and is used in formulas that are 100% free of chicken products

Flaxseed Oil:
Flaxseed oil is a good source of Omega-6 and Omega-3 essential fatty acids, which produce a soft, luxuriant coat.

Blueberries are a rich source of antioxidants and therefore may help prevent cancer. Blueberries also contain fiber, potassium, and Vitamins A & C. The nutrients in blueberries aid in promoting proper urinary tract health and good eyesight.

Cranberries are an excellent source of Vitamin C and prevent harmful bacteria from thriving in the urinary tract, reducing the rate of urinary tract infections.

Alfalfa Meal:
Alfalfa, a legume and member of the pea family, is a good source of many nutrients including protein, fiber, trace minerals and vitamins A, B1, B12, C, D, E, and K. It is also known for its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and diuretic properties.

Potassium Chloride:
Potassium chloride is an excellent source of potassium and vitamin A.

Rice contains the B-1 vitamins that promote growth, aid digestion of carbohydrates, maintain nervous system, heart, and muscle health, and stabilize the appetite.

Inulin is a prebiotic – it is low in calories and stimulates the growth and activity of probiotics, which are associated with health and well-being.

Among common vegetables, the carrot is the richest source of pro-vitamin A. Carrots also contain beta-carotene—an antioxidant—and vitamins B, C, D, E, K, riboflavin, niacin, calcium, potassium, phosphorus, sodium, and iron.

Fresh parsley is an herb associated with reducing urinary tract inflammation, while aiding in digestion and improving kidney function.

Spinach and Watercress:
Spinach and Watercress provide antioxidants and health-protecting phytochemicals, vitamins and minerals. They are high in Vitamin A and antioxidants providing protection against free radicals (cancer causing agents).

DL-Methionine is an essential amino acid that promotes urinary health. It raises the acidity of the urine, which helps break down urine crystals and in turn reduces inflammation of the urinary tract. It also regulates the formation of ammonia and can aid in creating ammonia-free urine.

Salt provides sodium and chloride, essential nutrients.

Choline Chloride:
Generally classified as a B-complex vitamin (referred to as vitamin B4 in some publications), choline influences the metabolism of carotene and vitamin A in animals. It is an essential component in ensuring proper nervous system function.

Zinc Proteinate:
Zinc promotes the mineralization of bone, digestion of protein, and the conversion of calorie-containing nutrients into energy. Zinc further aids in enzyme reaction, cell replication, protein and carbohydrate metabolism, skin health, and wound healing.

Green Tea Extract:
Green Tea Extract contains beneficial antioxidants, which help in controlling free radicals, and can help boost immunity.

Yucca Schidigera Extract:
When provided in small quantities, such as in Grandma Mae’s Country Naturals, yucca schidigera extract helps boost the immune system and has anti-inflammatory properties.

Iron Proteinate and Ferrous Sulfate:
Iron aids hemoglobin and myoglobin synthesis as well as energy metabolism.

Selenium Yeast:
Selenium yeast is a safe and natural form of selenium, an essential element in your pets diet. It also acts an antioxidant and may be beneficial for brain function.

Vitamin A:
Vitamin A aids vision, growth, immune function, fetal development, cellular differentiation, and trans-membrane protein transfer. Vitamin A is essential for the repair of body tissues and also benefits bone formation.

Copper Sulfate and Proteinate:
Copper is an essential trace mineral for animals.

Bacillus Subtilus:
Microbials lessen gas and bloating and promote consistent growth, healthier coats, resistance to disease, and better overall health.

Lactobacillus Acidophilus:
Lactobacillus acidophilus is a probiotc-beneficial bacteria that produce organic acids (such as lactic and acetic) and digestive enzymes.

Enterococcus Faecium:
Enterococcus faecium produces short-chain fatty acids that modulate the gut pH level and provide a source of fuel for cells lining the gut. This, in turn, strengthens the intestinal cells, helps enhance nutrient absorption, and stimulates immune functions in dogs.

Niacin is an essential vitamin and part of the vitamin B-complex. A lack of niacin can cause deficiency disease.

Manganese Sulfate:
Manganese is an essential trace mineral for animals.

Riboflavin is a water-soluble vitamin essential for the normal release of energy from carbohydrates, proteins, and fat. It is also essential in the formation of antibodies and red blood cells.

Biotin promotes healthy skin and hair and is necessary for growth, digestion, and muscle function.

Vitamin D3:
Vitamin D3 promotes the formation of bones and teeth. It also plays a role in the maintenance of healthy nerve and muscle systems.

Sodium Selenate:
Selenium is incorporated into many vital enzymes in the body. It works as an antioxidant that helps protect against free radical damage.

Cobalt Proteinate and Carbonate:
Cobalt is an important constituent of the vitamin B12 molecule.

Pyridoxine Hydrochloride:
Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) plays an essential role in maintaining red blood cells and producing antibodies and nerve tissue.

Folic Acid:
Folic acid is needed for the processing of sugar and amino acids.
